SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah)- Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will soon be receiving their mission calls online.
On Wednesday The Church announced they are rolling out a new process where missionaries will find out where they are serving their mission online instead of in the mail.
Several soon to be missionaries have tried the pilot program:
By the end of 2018, Church officials say all missionaries with reliable internet access will receive their calls this way.
“With this new process, they will receive an email and, in some cases, a text message informing them that their call is ready to open. Once the missionary is ready — with family and friends nearby — they can access their call letter using a smartphone, tablet or computer,” Church officials said.
The program also allows missionaries to immediately access all mission materials including maps, country information and lists of items to bring. Call letters and related materials can also be printed and downloaded for remembrance and record keeping.
