LAS VEGAS (News4Utah)- It’s been one year since 58 people were killed and hundreds were injured in a mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.
On Oct. 1st , several memorials and events will take place throughout the day.
Our sister station’s reporter Patrick Walker, joined us live from the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden in downtown Las Vegas.
The Healing Garden has become the place where survivors come for solace and to pay their respects.
The Las Vegas community came together to build it days after the shooting.
It is the centerpiece for all of the events taking place in observance of what happened a year ago.
22,000 people were at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the gunshots rang out.
Since then, around Las Vegas and among the survivor community, the mission statement quickly changed from mourning the 58 who were lost to honoring them while moving forward with a message of hope and healing.
Two survivors tied the knot Monday in front of the remembrance wall, choosing to, as many are saying, take back October in Las Vegas.
