Large power outage in Salt Lake Valley affected 15K residents

UPDATE: RMP has indicated most of the residents should have power. If you are still without power please call them at 888-221-7070. 


UPDATE: RMP is hoping to have everyone’s power restored by 1:30 p.m. Sunday.


SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – A large power outage in the west side of the Salt Lake Valley is affecting over 15,000 residents early Sunday morning. 

According to Rocky Mountain Power, the outage is in the West Valley, Kearns, Taylorsville and West Jordan areas. Its is affecting customers in the zip codes 84118, 84129, 84084, 84081.

Crews are reporting that a transformer might be the issue.

The power outage was first reported just after 7 a.m. While crews continue to search for a cause they are estimating power will be restored around 12 p.m. 

An update will be provided once more information is made available.
