SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – A fatal shooting in Sandy claimed the life of a kindergartner at Brookwood Elementary School, a spokesman for Canyons School District said Wednesday.
The shooting happened down the road from the school as it let out for the day. Police said a gunman fired on a car, killing the kindergartner and another woman. The gunman also died, though it is unclear whether he turned the gun on himself.
Two other children in the car were injured but are in the hospital, one in critical condition.
Police said the shooting was a possible domestic disturbance that may have spilled over near the school. It is unclear what the relationship was between the shooter the mother and child killed.
Grief counselors are on hand Wednesday for the last day of school.
