SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News)- Five-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Jon Du Pre returns to Utah, reporting and anchoring for ABC4 News. Du Pre, who began his career as a reporter at ABC4 Utah (KTVX), returned in December 2018 as the station’s senior investigative correspondent and anchor of ABC4 News at 9 p.m. on Utah’s CW30. Du Pre joins Emily Florez as the weeknight co-anchor of ABC4 News at 10 p.m., along with Chief Meteorologist Dan Pope and ABC 4 Sports anchors Wesley Ruff and Dana Greene.

Commenting on his new anchor assignment with ABC4 News, Jon Du Pre said, ” ABC4 Utah is not is not only Utah’s first television station, it’s my first TV station! I’m delighted to return to the place where my career began and where I cut my teeth as a journalist. And I’m just as happy to work with a very smart, hard-working, and dedicated team of journalists.”

Jon started as a part-time reporter and stringer for KTVX, before his career took him to places such as Green Bay, Boston, and Phoenix, including a stint as a network correspondent stationed in Los Angeles, covering the western U.S. and Central America.

Du Pre assumes the 10 p.m. co-anchor duties starting Monday, January 7, from Don Hudson who anchored the station’s 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts since August 2013. Hudson will co-anchor ABC4 News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. with Florez, and anchor ABC4 News at 9 p.m. on Utah’s CW30.

In addition to Du Pre’s five Emmy-Award wins, his career accomplishments include 16 Associated Press Awards, the Utah Governor’s Award for Consumer Protection Reporting and he’s an Amazon.com best-selling author.

Jon attended Brigham Young University, is “Dad” to three adult children – sons Kasey and Jonny, who graduated from BYU, and daughter Jessie, who graduated from the University of Utah. When he’s not chasing stories and delivering the news of the day, Du Pre can probably be found training for a triathlon.

Welcome back Jon!
