Former Salt Lake County councilwoman, Jenny Wilson, was sworn in Tuesday as Salt Lake County’s mayor.
The seat opened after former Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams was elected to the House of Representatives in last year’s midterm election.
Wilson in November ran against former presidential candidate Mitt Romney for Utah’s open seat to the United States Senate but lost.
Mayor Wilson says this is a big milestone for her.
“I am going to be a mayor that’s going to be out there I want to go out to communities. I’m going to do it in a way where I am really engaging with people and listening to what they really want, what our community leaders want, what our residents are looking for from their county government,” Wilson said.
Wilson says one of the issues she plans to tackle will be handling the growth of the Salt Lake Valley.
