‘It’s Okay to Be White’ posters found on WSU campus

Local News

Reports of “It’s Okay to Be White” flyers posted at universities in Utah and across the country continue.

Weber State says the flyers were removed because they violated rules for posting. (i.e. they were placed on top of other people’s posters).

That action “shows a lack of respect,” said Allison Barlow Hess, spokesperson for the university. “The University if very committed to robust expressions of free speech, but we would like to do it within the confines of civility.”

The same flyers have been popping up on campuses around the nation, including at the University of Utah.

It is unclear what group is behind the “It’s Okay to Be White” movement, but some believe it is an organized effort.

Ultra-conservative group The Red Elephants posted this YouTube video explaining the message

The same group is also selling T-shirts online which carry the slogan.
