MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Intermountain Healthcare kicked off National Donate Life Month by holding a flag raising event at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
“Donate Life” flags will fly at several Utah hospitals throughout the month to raise awareness and remind people to register as an eye, organ, and/or tissue donors as nearly 800 people wait for a transplant and a second chance at life, according to Intermountain.
“I have the opportunity to work with recipients and donor families and I can’t help but be inspired by the people I meet. I find that recipients are so grateful for a second chance and want to honor their donors” said Brian Beck, hospital services specialist for Intermountain Donor Services, in a press release.
The effort of this month is to encourage people to sign up as organ donors but to also shine a light on the advancements and possibility of living organ donation.
