The Utah Department of Public Safety has been busy this year.

Monday they released some of their numbers from 2017 traffic stops.

They say they stopped 226 vehicles trafficking drugs throughout the state of Utah.

These traffic stops have resulted in the seizure of over 4,450 pounds of marijuana, over 550 pounds of methamphetamine, over 100 pounds of cocaine, 46 pounds of heroin, and 1,100 pills.

As part of Operation Rio Grande troopers and agents took over 40 firearms from restricted people.

With their help child predators, homicide suspects, fraudsters, and other criminals are off the streets.

They say they hope their efforts will provide a safe environment for the people of Utah.
