Idaho cyclist killed after car turns in front of him in Cache County

CACHE COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – A 45-year-old man from Idaho was killed after a car turned in front of him on SR-218 in Cache County Saturday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol said Derek Steadman of Preston, Idaho was riding a bicycle southbound on SR-218 at the same time a driver in a Buick Lacrosse was headed north and attempting to make a left turn onto 6400 North. 

The driver of the Buick said they did not see the cyclist and turned in front of him. Steadman hit the passenger side of the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene. 

The crash is still under investigation.
