TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – If you’re commute takes you through Tooele County, get ready for delays. Starting Wednesday evening, the Utah Department of Transportation is going to repair pavement along I-80 to help make the area safer for drivers.
During construction I-80 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the S.R. 201 junction in Tooele County for one week. Crews tell News4Utah they are completing pavement repairs as part of a project to replace several bridges on I-80 and S.R. 36.
“The main goal of this immediate closure is to go in and do some pothole repairs, do some bridge rehabilitation, just to make the drive is a little bit smoother for drivers so we can get in there and do some complete bridge repairs,” said Zack Whitney, a spokesperson with the Utah Department of Transportation.
Drivers should expect delays during the morning and evening commute, and use S.R. 201 or S.R. 202 as alternate routes.
