SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) – UDOT announced plans to close part of I-215 westbound from June 23 at 9 p.m. to June 26 at 5 a.m.
The closure is expected to cause delays and UDOT is urging drivers to avoid the area if they can. Crews will be breaking up old concrete to make way for new pavement at the I-215, I-80 junction.
I-215 westbound between Foothill Drive and 2300 East will close Friday night at 9 p.m and will reopen Monday morning before rush hour. During the closure, UDOT said drivers will be detoured from I-215 westbound onto Exit 2. They will then need to continue east up Parley’s Canyon to Exit 132, which is Mount Aire Road.
The detour route is approximately 8 miles long, crews said.
UDOT asks drivers to allow for extra travel time if they must take that route.
