Gary Rose, of Huntsville, Alabama, with the Medal of Honor during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House October 23, 2017 in Washington, DC. Last week, it was announced President Donald Trump plans to make a trip to Utah to discuss his latest decision with Bears Ears.

The visit is expected in December. President Trump is expected to speak on his decision to trim the borders of Bears Ears. Friday, Senator Hatch said POTUS personally called him to tell him he is “approving the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase recommendation,” Monument supporters say they’ll take it to court.

Now, hundreds of Utahns are opposing the president’s visit. A document circulating on social media titled “Open Letter: Donald Trump is Not Welcome in Utah” has nearly 700 signatures.

“By signing this letter, we express our concern that his presence in our home will disgrace and embarrass the state of Utah, and will add unnecessary fuel to the fire of an issue that is very personal for so many Utahns across the state,” the letter says.

“Utah is a community that values respect, integrity, honesty, and compassion. Donald Trump, as a person who does not exhibit any regard for these values, is not welcome here. We urge our elected representatives to consider what is more important to them — the favor of the President, or the well-being of the people they are sworn to serve.”
