SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Two hundred protestors gathered outside the Salt Palace Friday just as Secretary of the Interior arrived in Utah.
Secretary Ryan Zinke made the recommendation to shrink two national monuments in southern Utah.
The group is not happy about that decision. They gathered to show the drastic change that will happen to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante under the Trump Administration.
Protestors say cultural artifacts and natural resources are not protected, but proponents argue the natural monuments were a land grab by Democratic presidents.
Bear Ears was decreased by 86 percent and Grand Staircase was shrunk by 46 percent.
