Hundreds of Utah Airmen return home from 6-month deployment in Japan

LAYTON, Utah (News4Utah) – Hundreds of Airmen from Hill Air Force Base were welcomed home Saturday after a 6-month deployment to Japan. 

Family and friends were there to greet the F-35 personnel from from the active duty 388th Fighter Wing and Reserve 419th Fighter Wing as they returned from a routine “theater security package” that is part of the continuing U.S. commitment to stability and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Col. Lee Kloose, 388 th Fighter Wing Commander said it was great to see all of their accomplishments and now to be able to bring them back and reunite them with their families. 

While deployed, the troops flew and maintained F-35-A’s. Hill Air Force Base is currently home to 35 F-35’s and by the end of 2019, it is expected to have 78.
