Hundreds lose power after semi-truck hits power lines

SANDY, Utah (News4Utah) – Hundreds of people in the Sandy area lost power Friday afternoon after a semi-truck hit some power lines Friday afternoon. 

It happened in the area of 1700 East 9400 South around 1:50 p.m.

Sandy police said the semi was traveling northbound on 1700 east and turning right on Albion Drive. The top of the semi-trailer hit the power lines, breaking them.

Crews closed lanes on 1700 East between 9400 South and 9700 South.

Rocky Mountain Power personnel responded to repair damages. According the company’s website, it estimates power will be fully restored to customers by 8 p.m.
