Rich Woodruff with the Utah Red Cross joined us in studio to discuss the importance of home fire safety plans.

Woodruff says home fire plans should include at least two ways to escape from every room of your home.

Everyone in your house should know two ways to escape from each room in your home.

The Red Cross has a home fire escape plan you can download here.

In October 2014 the Red Cross launched a nationwide campaign called “Sound the Alarm” designed to reduce the number of home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent over a five year period and it is working.  He said almost 500 confirmed lives have been saved the result of almost 1.5 million alarms installed in 100 target Cities including Salt Lake.
