SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – With Utah’s population on track to nearly double by the year 2050, a local company is working hard to sustain the state’s growth.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Utah is now the fastest growing state in the country. While the Beehive State’s booming population certainly has its benefits, the surge is not safe if society can not keep up.
That is where Geneva Rock Products, Inc. comes in.
Using cutting-edge technology and environmentally friendly solutions, the Utah construction products company is paving the way for more than just roads.
“Most people don’t realize it, but Geneva Rock and the materials and services that we supply are intertwined in their lives. We can’t go anywhere without being the beneficiary of something that Geneva Rock has produced or installed,” said Vice President of Construction Shane Albrecht.
From the sidewalks we walk on to the foundations of our homes, to paved hiking trails and park playgrounds, all of them, in some way, tie back to Geneva Rock.
Albrecht says despite common misconceptions, the company makes green energy solutions a top priority.
“Asphalt pavements that have met their life — we are able to recycle those a hundred percent… We have an overland conveyer system at our pit at the Point of the Mountain that actually generates energy rather than consumes energy,” he cited, among other examples.
Albrecht says it is that internal commitment to serving the state’s best interest that has kept this Made-4-Utah company in business since 1954.
“This is what I love to do. This is the passion that I have,” he smiled.
