Highway 6 closed again, Diamond Fork and Sheep Creek Canyon under mandatory evacuation

UPDATE: Sunday 2 p.m. – US Hwy 6 through Spanish Fork Canyon is closed again as of 2:00 PM. Diamond Fork and Sheep Creek are also now under evacuation order.

SPANISH FORK, Utah (News4Utah) – U.S. Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon is now closed and Diamond Fork Canyon is under a pre-evacuation notice. 

The Pole Creek and Bald Mountain Fires continue to grow and expand in Utah County. Several road closures and mandatory evacuation orders are still in place.

As of September 15, total size is over 80,000 acres with 2% containment.

There are now 2 Type 1 Incident Management Teams involved in fighting these fires. 6,000 people have been evacuated, effecting 2,000 homes.
