SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah)-There are over 42,000 single mothers living along the Wasatch Front and nearly 40 percent of them live in poverty despite the fact that they work.
Pamela Okumura is the Executive Director for People Helping People and in just a few days they are holding a seminar designed specifically for single mothers.
It’s called the Single Mothers Seminar and includes an ‘Employer Open House’ showcasing 30 local and national companies, vital community resources.
“The path to self-sufficiency is a long haul, but we introduce them to a bunch of employers. They give them entry-level employment and room for advancement,” Okumura explained.
