Herriman High School senior dies in crash with school bus

RIVERTON, Utah (News4Utah) – A community is mourning the death of a Herriman High School student after he was killed in a crash involving a school bus Wednesday. 

Emergency crews responded to the crash scene at 12600 South Bangerter Highway in Riverton.

Police say a small car rear-ended a school bus killing the driver of the car. There were two children on the school who received minor injuries. 

The driver of the car who died was identified as 17-year-old Bryson Hathaway. He was a senior at Herriman High School. 

Bryson played baseball and football. His football coach Jim Freeland said he was an honor roll student and headed to college next year. Freeland also described Bryson as a well-liked kid with a big heart.
