WOODS CROSS, Utah (News4Utah) – A Woods Cross police officer is being called a hero for a daring rescue during a garage fire.
He saved a dog and her eight puppies.
Officer Travis Timothy responded to the scene with South Davis Metro Fire. He says everyone made it out of the house safely, but the dog and her puppies needed some help.
He says at first, the mother was trying to protect her puppies, but that didn’t stop him from getting them all out.
“She had, her whiskers were melted to her fur and one of the pictures I took of the scene there was four gas canisters that were right next to the fenced off area where the puppies were at,” said Officer Timothy.
Yesterday Off. Timothy responded with Metro Fire on a garage fire. Inside was mom and her 8 pups. As you can see in the picture mom and her pups have a new hero as they wouldn’t leave Off. Timothy’s side…. or feet 😁 pic.twitter.com/2i9APudAgb— Woods Cross Police (@WoodsCrossPD) April 4, 2018
Officer Timothy says mom and most of the puppies stayed at his feet after the rescue. He calls it an amazing experience, but the outcome would have been much worse had the gas canisters ignited.
