Some iPhone users with the latest version of iOS 11.1 are reporting issues when typing the letter “I”.

Users are reportedly getting the gibberish ” A [?] ” when typing a capital “I”. In response Apple has issued a quick fix:

Try setting up Text Replacement for the letter “i”

Here’s what you can do to work around the issue until it’s fixed in a future software update:

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.

Tap .

For Phrase, type an upper-case “I”. For Shortcut, type a lower-case “i.”

You can also turn off autocorrect or press the leftmost text option to tell autocorrect to keep the capital “I” instead of changing it, but this will need to be done every time you type a capital “I”.

Apple is expected to fix the glitch in the next  week or so.
