WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – The puck dropped for the 18th annual Guns and Hoses Charity Hockey Classic games Saturday.
The event kicked off with an opening ceremony including a color guard, national anthem, moment of silence and bagpipers.
The ceremonial puck drop was offered by Elizabeth Romrell, wife of South Salt Lake Police Officer David Romrell, and Heather Burchett and son Griffin, survivors of Battalion Chief Matt Burchett.
Event ticket proceeds will go directly to these widows and their children as well as the widow and child of Provo Police Officer Joseph Shinners.
Officer Romrell, Battalion Chief Matt Burchett, and Master Officer Joseph Shinners were all killed in the line of duty.
