SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Community members, air quality and conservation groups, voiced their concerns about Salt Lake City’s proposed inland port project.
After an Envision Utah panel discussion on the inland port, members of the Community Coalition for Port Reform spoke out.
This group says the public is not being told that port development could present risks to our communities, our health and our environment.
“Salt Lake City residents have been disenfranchised from this project and this project is going to have serious air quality consequences, we’re already out of attainment, our air quality is disastrous and this project would just make that a thousand times worse,” said Deeda Seed with Community Coalition for Port Reform.
In addition to claims that the port is a health concern, some at the meeting said the port will also be a disaster for wildlife that depend on the Great Salt Lake.
