SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – More than four thousand people showed up this afternoon at Daybreak for the 7th Annual Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta.

Dozens of giant pumpkins set sail on Oquirrh Lake, being captained by members of a group called The Utah Giant Pumpkin Seed Growers.

Last month, they had a weigh in at Thanksgiving Point. Today, they carved out their pumpkins in sea-going yachts.

“The residents love these types of crazy activities that we do and it just kind of brings a sense of community,” Dan Rodgerson told Good4Utah.

These giant pumpkin growers have two more events coming up: a pumpkin drop on October 29th at Hee Haw Farms in Pleasant Grove. Then on November 23rd they use the remains for the Feed The Beat Event at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.
