Funeral held for two Hillcrest High School teens killed in Arizona crash

SANDY, Utah (News4Utah) – Friends and family remembered the lives of two teenagers from Sandy who were laid to rest today after a tragic car wreck a week ago in the Virgin River Canyon.

According to relatives, Carson Koch and Brayden Eaton, both 17-year-old juniors at Hillcrest High School, were killed instantly in a single car rollover between Mesquite and St. George while they were returning from a spring break trip.

Today Brayden’s grandmother described her as sweet, innovative and a helpful young lady who loved nature and hiking. Carson’s mother said he was a 3.9 student and an Eagle Scout who loved Ford Mustangs, basketball and playing the drums.

“They had big dreams. They had so many plans for their very bright futures,” said Jody Ann Koch, Carson’s Mother. “They lived life to the fullest. They always had some adventure planned and they celebrated their relationship on a monthly basis. They had been together for 16 months.”

Compounding the tragedy, Brayden’s mother had just died from liver failure a week earlier. There is a GoFundMe page for donations to help her grandmother and sister Cadence pay for the funeral and counseling.
