Foundation supports families of fallen officers

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – While families and fellow colleagues are dealing with Provo City Officer Shinners’ death, one foundation is working to help all families who lose their loved ones in the line of duty.

The Utah 1033 Foundation gives $25,000 to the fallen officers’ families including Officer Shinners’.

“Support is needed and the family needs to be supported and I encourage anyone and everyone to do what they can to support families who suffer from tragedies like this but in their day-to-day lives law enforcement officers. Officials need support then too because the danger is accepted but it’s in the back of their mind and it’s stressful and it’s hard to carry so just remember they are people too and try to support and thank them for what they do,” said Dave Kaufman, president of Utah 1033 Foundation.

Since the foundation’s inception in 2011, it has assisted nine families of fallen officers. If you would like more information about the Utah 1033 Foundation, visit https://utah1033.org.
