WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Appearing in chains before a Third District Court Judge, accused killer Chelsea Cook made her initial appearance to face her formal murder charge more than two weeks after being arrested in connection to the death of Lisa Williams, 26.

Williams was the girlfriend of Cook’s ex-husband. Prosecutors allege Cook went to her ex’s Midvale apartment Nov. 25 to take cold medicine to one of their children. When she arrived, she allegedly locked herself in the bathroom while her ex called 911. When Cook emerged, court documents allege she shot Lisa Williams, who was at the apartment, three times.

Williams, 26, died at an area hospital a short time later.

The murder and burglary charge are in addition to a charge of committing violence in the presence of children. Cook’s 3-year-old twins witnessed the entire incident, court documents show.

Cook will face a judge again in January.
