Firefighters respond to house fire in Layton

LAYTON, Utah (ABC4 News) – Fire crews quickly extinguished a house fire in Layton Tuesday evening. 

There were initial reports that the occupants of the home may have been trapped in the house.

Officials said they were able to confirm that neither the homeowner or any other occupants were home at the time of the fire.

The homeowner is safe and with family members, authorities said. 

Crews from the Layton Fire Department and Hill Air Force were on scene and were able to quickly get the fire under control and knock it down. 

Authorities are still investigating the cause and cost of damage to the home.
