TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (News4Utah) – A small brush fire ignited along the Jordan River in Taylorsville Thursday night. Fire crews responded to 1050 West 3920 South and quickly got the fire under control.
Firefighters say the trees and grass were incredibly dry and there were power lines and homes nearby.
Around 50 firefighters from several different agencies helped put out the flames before they spread.
“We got concerned as it pushed toward the south end, there is an apartment complex. Luckily there is a parking lot between the apartment complex and where the vegetation is, though there was a vinyl fence that we thought might be threatened for a period of time,’ said Matthew McFarland, Unified Fire Authority spokesperson.
In total firefighters say the fire burned about five acres. Crews stayed on scene well into the night making sure the fire was completely out.
