Fire sparks at oilfield prompting evacuation of nearby home

DUCHESNE, Utah (ABC4 News) – One home was evacuated due to a fire at an oilfield near Duchesne Thursday.

Firefighters from Duchesne and Altamont responded to the fire near 6000 South 19000 West around 11:30 a.m. 

According to Duchesne County Fire and Emergency Management Director Mike Lefler, the nearby home was evacuated as a precaution.

Officials asked that the public not drive through the area to watch to the fire and allow crews room to work.

“The added traffic has the potential to hamper the efforts of the emergency responders to reach the scene,” they said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
