SPANISH FORK, Utah (News4Utah) – A fire in a Spanish Fork-Springville Airport hangar causes $300k in damage Saturday night.
Lt. Brandon Anderson, Spanish Fork Police, said police and fire were called to smoke coming from one of the hangars at the airport at about 10:30 p.m. Someone working in another hangar noticed the smoke and called 911.
Anderson said the doors to the hangars are very large and hard to get open but somehow they were able to get inside and pull the plane out and into the open. It took about an hour to fully extinguish the fire.
Preliminary investigation shows the fire started near a battery charger that was plugged into the plane.
Anderson said the single engine plane was a total loss. Damages are estimated at $300k to include smoke and fire damage to the hangar.
