Fire above Farmington burns 130 acres

UPDATE: The fire that sparked in Farmington, Utah grew to about 130 acres last night and is 25% contained. 
The structures that were threatened last night are no longer being threatened by the blaze. 
Fire officials were concerned last night because of the fierce winds that blew around 2 am. 
This morning there are very few hotspots and a helicopter is on it’s way to join in the fight. 
“Things are looking really good,” said Kim Osborn with Northern Utah Interagency Fire Team. “Though there are few hotspots.” 
FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Fire crews responded to a fire above Farmington Friday evening. 
The Shephard Fire began burning in the area of 1500 N. Compton. just before 6 p.m. It’s has burned about 100 acres. 

Firefighters have been working to make sure the fire doesn’t make it up an over the ridge line in the area. Crews are also focused on protecting homes in the area.  It was an extremely close call for at least three homes in particular. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but crews think it could be accidental.
