Police in Salt Lake City are looking for a third suspect in a robbery of a sandwich shop that sent one of the suspects to the hospital after an employee shot at them.

Police say 33-year-old Matthew Dean Forrest is being sought for his possible involvement in the robbery that occurred last Tuesday shortly after 6 p.m. at the Quiznos at 4130 West 1775 South in Salt Lake City.

According to police, one male suspect walked into the front of the sandwich shop, while the other two suspects, a male and female, went around back and attempted to break in through the backroom.

The female suspect was shot by a female employee (who was carrying a concealed weapon) and was trying to prevent the two suspects from entering.

Officers say this was a very dangerous “takeover style” robbery that they don’t see very often.

The female suspect was taken by ambulance to the hospital, she is expected to survive. A second suspect, Cody Shane Durrant, 36, of Kearns has been taken into custody by police.

Police are also saying it is possible Forrest was shot during the robbery and may have sought medical attention for his injuries.

Anyone who is aware of the whereabouts of Matthew Dean Forrest is asked to call Salt Lake City Police Dispatch at 801-799-3000.
