Father and son share glory of first home run exactly 18 years apart

OREM, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Something pretty special happened Monday evening in Orem. Can you the imagine the feeling of pride after hitting your first home run and really sharing the moment with your dad?
Jayson Sydenham, 12, hit his first home run on Monday, June 19. Jayson plays for Team Mateo in Orem’s Monday Night Lights League

One of the parents at the game described it as a “top five baseball moment.”  Jayson was so happy, he cried tears of joy as he rounded the bases.
“It wasn’t the ball going over the fence that caught my attention. It was the fact that Jayson had tears streaming down his face before he made it to first. He was crying around second and sobbing from third to home,” said the man in a Facebook post.
What do you do after a milestone like that? You commemorate it by writing the date on the game ball.
After they got home, Jayson’s dad decided to go rummaging through a drawer for some of his old game balls. Wouldn’t you know his father had hit his first home run on June 19 too, exactly 18 years ago?!
“What are the chances?” asked Jayson’s proud grandfather who shared the story with Good4Utah.
