SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) – A community gathered at Liberty Park to remember a teenager stabbed to death while trying to defend two girls early Monday morning.
Friends say 16-year-old Marcelino Johnson tried to make the best of a bad situation.
They say he lost his mother a year ago and even more recently lost his grandfather. But they say despite the hardships, he always managed to stay positive.
“His humor his sense of humor and how funny and loving and caring he was,” said Juanita Dye, Marcelino’s sister.
Police arrested two suspects in connection with Johnson’s murder in the days following his death.
