Family, friends gather for Midvale crosswalk victim

Local News

MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – It has been one week since a Midvale teenager was hit by a car while she walked through a crosswalk.

On Thursday night, those who love Jadyn Slesser gathered at the intersection where she was hit and critically injured.

“It’s been a week since her accident, and it’s been horrible,” said family friend Keeley Woods.

Slesser is still in a coma.

Police say an 85-year-old woman, seen on home surveillance video, crashed into the 17-year-old at the corner of Center and Grant Streets in Midvale.

“I don’t know how you could not see somebody in a crosswalk and then not to slow down, not to stop, just to plow through her like that,” said Woods.

“It was heartbreaking, and it still is,” added Woods.

“She was just so energetic, and so full of life, and now it’s hard to see her just laying in her bed and not moving,” said Woods.

“We want Jadyn to know that we’re all thinking about her, praying for her, getting together, we’re all here for her.”

To help Jadyn’s family, there is a GoFundMe page here:
