Faith leaders voice their opinion on Medicaid expansion

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Faith and community leaders gathered Thursday to talk about the importance of Medicaid expansion to the people they serve.

Medicaid expansion was voted on as “Proposition 3” back in the November election and passed.

Now lawmakers are discussing the bill during the legislative session, but faith leaders voiced their opinion about the bill.

“Tens of thousands of Utahns are uninsured and have incomes under the poverty level. Some of these people are currently sick and looking forward to receiving treatment,” one leader said. “It is unfair to those people to delay expansion for any reason.”

The expansion supposed to take effect on April 1, 2019.
