Failure to yield crash sends seven people to the hospital

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Failure to yield sent seven people to the hospital in an early Sunday morning crash.

West Valley Police Lt. Amy Maurer said a female driver attempted to make a right hand turn on southbound 5600 West from 4370 South at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

The driver failed to yield, colliding with another vehicle traveling southbound. Each car had two adults and two juveniles Lt. Maurer said.

Officials say seven people were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle suffered critical injuries with a possible skull fracture. Six people were treated for minor injuries and one released on scene.

Lt. Maurer says a DUI investigation is underway as they believe the driver was under the influence.
