SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Dozens of people were evacuated from their apartments Tuesday morning during a gas leak.
Fire officials responded to A Street and 1st Ave. around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Officials say crews were already in the area responding to a water main break when they smelled gas.
Dominion Energy responded and ordered 12 buildings evacuated. The evacuation area included 1st Avenue from “A” street to 136 East including the Covey and Hillcrest apartments.

The cause of the water and gas line break is still under investigation.
Crews were on scene for several hours, but residents were allowed back in their homes around 4 p.m.
