CLINTON, Utah (News4Utah) – Police are looking for a man after a report of a man with a gun forced the evacuation of the Walmart in Clinton.
The 911 call came in around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. Sgt. Richard Murdock with Clinton Police Department said it was reported initially as a man brandishing a firearm in the parking lot, acting “suspicious,” and then entering the Walmart.
Multiple officers from multiple agencies responded to the situation. Investigators confirmed through surveillance footage that subject left just as officers were arriving on scene.
Police said the subject went into the store, met up with a woman and made some purchases before leaving the area as the passenger in a white SUV.
The person of interest was determined to be a white man in his 20s wearing camouflage pants or shorts and a gray T-shirt. Police are trying to determine if there was a threat made or if the situation is possibly a misunderstanding involving an individual with a handgun.
“At this time, we do not believe there is a danger to the public,” said Sgt. Murdock.
Police are still looking for the man involved in this incident. If this is you or someone you know, Clinton police ask that you give them a call.
