SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News)- Big news here at ABC4—we’ve got a new anchor starting Monday.
Utah native and Emmy-Award nominated journalist Emily Florez will join our team as a weeknight co-anchor and reporter at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.
Florez returns to Utah with a decade of breaking news and investigative journalism reporting and anchoring experience. Throughout her career, she has covered many high-profile news stories from the trial of Elizabeth Smart’s captor, Brian David Mitchell and the disappearance of Utah mom Susan Powell, to the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald in Chicago.
Prior to joining ABC4 News, she reported and anchored at WMAQ in Chicago. In addition to reporting the news of the day, she has delivered front-line coverage of severe weather and storm damage aftermath, as well as exciting local and national events including the World Series title run of the Chicago Cubs.
Florez is a graduate of Brigham Young University. She began her journalism career as an intern at ABC4 Utah. Emily and her husband live in the Salt Lake Valley with their two children.
Welcome to the team, Emily! We’re so excited to have you.
