BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Quick action by a trooper and an off-duty volunteer firefighter helped save the life of a driver whose truck crashed into a canal.
It happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 30 near Bear Hollow. Drivers called 911 to report a person driving erratically in pickup truck. The driver of the truck then crashed into the guardrail and plunged into a canal.
The trooper, volunteer firefighter and others jumped in to help and pulled the nearly 80-year-old man safely from the truck and water.
The driver turns 80 in October and from Tremonton. He told the trooper he was diabetic. The man was conscious and alert while crews took him to the hospital to get checked out.
