WASATCH COUNTY (News4Utah)- Emergency crews spent nearly three hours putting out a fire after they say a trailer loaded with light crude oil crashed near Strawberry Reservoir.

Lt. Todd Royce with Utah Highway Patrol said the driver had fallen asleep and drifted off the right shoulder of the road, causing the trailer to overturn.

Luckily, he was able to unhook the tanker from cab of the semi before the fire spread.

It happened just after 7 a.m. on US 40 near mile marker 42. The road was closed for some time as crews worked to fight the fire.

As of noon Wednesday the Utah Department of Transportation report one eastbound lane is open. North and southbound traffic are alternating, so expect delays in the area.

Troopers say there were no injuries reported in the incident. They are still investigating what caused the trailer to overturn.
