Driver flees after being ejected from vehicle

WEST VALLEY, Utah (News4Utah) – A driver who was ejected from his car attempted to flee on foot from police after a rollover crash, officials said.

It happened Sunday afternoon near 5800 West Parkway Blvd.

Lt. Amy Maurer with the West Valley City Police Department said the driver crashed and rolled the car he was driving after attempting to pass a semi.

While attempting to pass he saw an oncoming vehicle Lt. Maurer said. He over-corrected, hit a pole, and rolled the car, she added.

Lt. Maurer said he was ejected from the vehicle and took off on foot. Officials located the man near the scene of the accident. 

The driver was later transported to a hospital for injuries. He has since been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, confirmed Lt. Maurer.
