Driver extinguishes fire on school bus in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A school bus driver extinguished a fire that began on an empty Granger High School bus Thursday Morning. 

Authorities say they received a call about the bus fire at 7:30 a.m. The incident happened at Granger High School located at 3580 South and 3600 West.

School officials say the bus was empty when she noticed the smoke. Two fellow bus drivers helped her extinguish the fire.

Ben Horsely, the spokesman for the Granite School District, said no injuries were reported and no other vehicles or property were damaged as a result of the fire. 

The bus has been taken to the shop and the bus driver has resumed her normal routes using a different school bus.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
