SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – The Department of Public Safety hosted a second training for sex crime investigators as part of a year-long training.

During Thursday’s training, a registered nurse showcased the role of nurse examiners in sexual assault investigations.
Agent Coats from the State Bureau of Investigation says the training is designed to complement a new bill aimed to provide better resources for sexual assault and abuse investigations.

“DPS has taken a role of supporting law enforcement by helping to provide training like this, furthering quality investigations in sex assaults and abuse,” said Coats.

The next session of training will be held in March.
