BOUNTIFUL, Utah (News4Utah) – UPDATE: Tom Cella posted Wednesday that Coco had been found.
Tom Cella dropped off his dog at Bountiful Animal Hospital on Friday. And then, he was told by staff, his dog disappeared.
“I just want my dog back,” said Cella.
His dog, Coco, is a miniature pinscher with brown accents.
He’s had Coco for six years.
“They’re like a member of your family, they’re like a child,” said Cella.
On Friday, hours after he dropped off his dog, he got a phone call.
“Saying — she had escaped,” said Cella.
According to manager Mindy Mangelson, Coco was in a dog run and Mangelson thinks the dog jumped over the six foot wall.
She thinks Coco then escaped from an open door that had been just used to take out dogs for a bathroom break.
“I’m just so heartbroken for him, I know that he is probably beside himself,” said Mangelson.
“I’m beside myself. I’ve been sick to my stomach for it — and all I can say is that I am so sorry, and we’re going to continue on our journey to find her.”
Cella says he just wants his dog back. He has posted his plea to various social media platforms with photos.

“At this point, I’m just kind of waiting to either have her body be found or hopefully — I’m just hoping and praying that somebody’s picked her up.”
