SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Furloughed federal workers and their families are getting a helping hand from the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum. The museum is offering free admission to them in hopes of easing their burden and as a way to say thank you.

Starting Tuesday, furloughed federal employees and their families, in order to get free admission, will need to check in at the front desk during business hours and show a valid government identification when picking up tickets. This free admission offer will only apply while the shutdown is in effect.

Executive Director of the museum, Laurie Hopkins, says an offer like this is the least they could do. “We are so appreciative of all they do for our community and country and we want to help in any way we can,” she said.

Regular business hours are Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 6 p.m.
